Copper Canyon offers the ideal combination of academic rigor and stimulating opportunities for hands-on, real-world learning. Classes are small (1:10 teacher-student ratio) and tailored to each student’s learning style, with learning trips and community service enhancing the academic experience.

Stages of Change Model

Treatment at Copper Canyon girls’ boarding school is highly individualized based on an understanding of each student’s unique path toward change. Rather than following a rigid phase system, our approach centers on the evidence-based Stages of Change model.

We work closely with students and their families to understand how change happens. With a deeper understanding of themselves and their loved ones, students are able to make self-assessments and develop the motivation to make realistic, long-lasting changes in their lives.

As a college-prep girl’s boarding school, Copper Canyon Academy provides students with all of the support they need to prepare for and apply to college. We offer assistance with college counseling, ACT/SAT preparation, college selection, and application procedures. Our students’ hard work pays off, with 99 percent attending a college of their choice.

Advanced Equine Therapy Program

Copper Canyon Academy offers a full course of equine-assisted therapy, including advanced training through EAGALA (Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association). Equine therapy is a highly effective alternative to traditional talk therapy, and encourages girls to develop close bonds with horses as well as their families and peers.

A Home Away From Home

Our caring, experienced staff is what makes Copper Canyon Academy a true home away from home for our students. Every member of our residential staff is certified through Residential Child and Youth Care Professional. The longevity of our staff, many of whom have been with us for 10 years or more, allows us to use a consistent and highly effective team-based approach.

Support for Families

Copper Canyon Academy’s family program has been fine-tuned and perfected for nearly 15 years. We provide a high level of family support that includes family therapy, visits, and parent and family workshops. Our location, just 20 minutes from Sedona, makes Copper Canyon a convenient and fun place for families to visit.
